Welcome! My name is Mary-Jane Rewa (Ngāpuhi, Tainui) and I am a self-taught emerging artist from Aotearoa, New Zealand. Currently living in Italy, my approach plays with colour, texture, mediums, and composition to explore the human experience, relationships with nature, and expression.
Working primarily on canvas, and favouring flashe, acrylics, and acrylic inks as foundational mediums, I incorporate pastels, pens, markers and more as each piece develops.
Dipping my toes into creative writing, I've been utilising the haiku form, gravitating towards carefully crafted imagery that balances concrete observation with a metaphorical curiosity.
